Powers was called to address poor air distribution at one of Pratt & Whitney's manufacturing facilities. We found a solution that would help redistribute the air and also maximize the comfort and efficiency of the HVAC system.
We added 12 destratification fans that were placed to maximize air movement between the duct distribution to spread the conditioned air more evenly in the space. We used a controller that monitors the temperature difference at the ceiling and at the occupant level. This method allowed the fans to speed up as needed to negate the temperature difference but only go full speed when needed.
These destratification fans are known to save up to 30% in heating cost because it moves the warm air that is stratified at the ceiling down to the occupied level and recapture the energy in the heating season. The customer was very happy at the energy savings and comfort level this solution provided.
